Bible Understanding How To Seek The Kingdom Of God

Bible Understanding How To Seek The Kingdom Of God

1.) Scripture
Matthew 6:24‭-‬34
“No one can be a slave of two masters; he will hate one and love the other; he will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.   “This is why I tell you not to be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes?  Look at the birds: they do not sow seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds?  Can any of you live a bit longer  by worrying about it?   “And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves.  But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers.  It is God who clothes the wild grass — grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burnt up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? How little faith you have!   “So do not start worrying: ‘Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes?’  (These are the things the pagans are always concerned about.) Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.  Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.  So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.

Colossians 2:10
and you have been given full life in union with him. He is supreme over every spiritual ruler and authority.

Acts 17:28
as someone has said, ‘In him we live and move and exist.’ It is as some of your poets have said, ‘We too are his children.’

Seek and you will find!
Together, we’re going to (re)discover this famous passage, in which Jesus reminds us that everything is found in God:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (see Matthew 6:33)
I invite you to ask yourself this question today: what are you seeking?
Are you seeking to…
*Build a balanced and thriving marriage
*Raise your children so that they’ll know Jesus
*Prosper in your professional affairs
*Deepen your friendships
*Support your family…?

In all, are you seeking to be happy?

All these things are legitimate, good, and approved by God: He encourages you and wants to give you access to them. In fact, His will is to be your first source of blessings.
Quite often, we think that happiness is outside of us and depends on circumstances. Deep down, we think, “Once I can access this, I will be happier…” But God wants to teach us that the only true giver of happiness is Him. That’s why we must seek Him first.

In His first sermon called “The Sermon on the Mount” (see Matthew 5:1-48), Jesus said “blessed” nine times; the Greek word for “blessed,” “makarios,” also means “happy.”This is a state that can only be fully experienced through a deep relationship with the Creator of our souls.
You are complete in Him (see Colossians 2:10), and in Him you live, move, and have your being (see Acts 17:28). I invite you to seek Him passionately and let Him find you.
And what’s interesting, too, is that if God invites us to seek Him first...on His side, it’s you He seeks first.

2.) Scripture
Matthew 6:33
Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

Revelation 22:13
I am the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Romans 4:17
as the scripture says, “I have made you father of many nations.” So the promise is good in the sight of God, in whom Abraham believed — the God who brings the dead to life and whose command brings into being what did not exist.

How do I start well?
When you want something new, a new step in your life, are you focused first and foremost on the goal you’re trying to reach...or on the One who makes every accomplishment possible?
The Bible encourages us, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (see Matthew 6:33)
“First” means “before,” “most important,” or “in the beginning.”

The Greek word for beginning is “proton.” The proton is a particle located at the center of an atom. We also call it the nucleus, and it’s interesting to note that it has a positive charge.
The Creator always precedes creation. He’s the One who is the beginning but also the end: ““I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.””(see Revelation 22:13)
Think about what you put first in your life, what you place first in your days. Do you act as if God is truly in first place?

In your relationships,In your family life,In your dreams and plans,In the way you treat yourself?
The fact is that Christ is the “divine” proton. The center, the nucleus around which our lives must be centered. He creates the positive energy our lives need!
The Bible says that He is the “...God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;” (Romans 4:17)
This is how God proceeds in our lives. When God speaks, the entire creation immediately begins moving to obey Him. When we place God before everything else, we authorize Him to create things in our lives that do not exist and to call things into existence that are not!
I encourage you to put God at the beginning of everything you do and desire. May He be the center of your being, the center of your dreams, the center of your plans…

Prayer
“Lord, I choose to give You the first place in my life. As soon as I get up, may my thoughts turn to You so that I may be able to trust You with all the rest. You know my dreams and my plans. From this day forward, I yield to You and give You first place so that You can fully act in my life. Thank you, Lord! In Jesus’s name, amen.”

3.) Scripture
Matthew 6:33
Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

Romans 14:17
For God's Kingdom is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of the righteousness, peace, and joy which the Holy Spirit gives.

Romans 8:17
Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ's suffering, we will also share his glory.

You are heir to a kingdom! 👑
How can the Kingdom of God be defined? It’s interesting to note that the expression “Kingdom of God” or “Kingdom of heaven” is mentioned a hundred times in the Bible. For comparison’s sake, let’s look at two other very important words: the word “gospel” is mentioned 90 times and the word “church” a hundred times as well.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (see Matthew 6:33)
We are all convinced of the importance of the gospel, the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. We are all convinced of the importance of the true church, the bride of Christ. But few realize the importance of the Kingdom.

This word, if we break it apart, means “the domain of the king,” and its etymology indicates “what belongs to a king.” Jesus is king! And His Kingdom is unlike any other kingdom, any other dominion on this Earth.
“for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (see Romans 14:17)

When Jesus asks us to seek first the Kingdom of God, in truth, He’s inviting us to seek the One who represents this Kingdom, with all the values that He embodies: righteousness, peace, love, humility, goodness, gentleness, etc.
Today, know that you belong to this Kingdom. That Jesus is your good and marvelous King, and that He causes peace and righteousness to reign in His Kingdom.
Not only are you part of this Kingdom, but even more, you are a co-heir of this Kingdom! You are the beloved child of the King, and He calls you by name. You have a place at His table, and He promises you countless treasures. Material treasures but also spiritual treasures. In Jesus Christ, everything is yours!
“and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” (see Romans 8:17)
So, seek first the King of this Kingdom and everything that comes from His heart, and all things will be given to you as well!

4.) Scripture
Matthew 6:33
Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

Micah 6:8
No, the LORD has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.

James 1:22
Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice.

Matthew 22:37‭-‬39
Jesus answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the greatest and the most important commandment.  The second most important commandment is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself.’

Isaiah 58:8
“Then my favour will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side.

God has something to ask of you…
We often approach the throne of grace with expectations and requests — and that’s a good thing! But how often do we come to God and ask Him...what about You? What are You asking of me?
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (see Matthew 6:33)

What does seeking His righteousness involve?
The Bible says, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (see Micah 6:8)
God has desires; He has requests. If we are ambassadors of His Kingdom, God doesn’t let us represent Him without any instruction! Here are several practical examples of what the Lord asks of us as we seek to live righteously:

1 - That we put His Word into practice. “But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth].”(see James 1:22) If we don’t spend time meditating on the Word of God, we’re much more likely to be deceived by unsound reasoning.

2 - That we love mercy. In other words, that we’re filled with mercy, kindness, generosity, grace...so many values that govern the Kingdom of God. Do you know the two greatest commandments? Here they are: “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (see Matthew 22:37-39) On these two commandments alone hangs all the law! Loving God, loving yourself, and loving your neighbor...this is God’s agenda for us!

3 - That we walk humbly with our God. “Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.” (see Proverbs 15:33) Jesus is our perfect model of humility. Yes, seeking to please God, to do what is righteous in His eyes! “Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.” (see Isaiah 58:8)

I invite you today to take a moment and ask the Lord what He requires of you. Once you’re sure that the answer you’ve received is in alignment with the Word of God, you only have one thing left to do: starting moving!

Prayer
“Lord, I want to do what You’re asking...I want to please You entirely. Help me to put Your Word into practice, love like You love, and walk humbly with You. Help me understand Your desires as I seek Your righteousness. May I walk in Your will today and feel Your presence inside of me! In Jesus’s name, amen.”

5.) Scripture
Philippians 4:19
And with all his abundant wealth through Christ Jesus, my God will supply all your needs.

Psalms 119:90‭-‬91
Your faithfulness endures through all the ages; you have set the earth in place, and it remains.  All things remain to this day because of your command, because they are all your servants.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.

Do you want to receive from God? 🎁
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (see Matthew 6:33)
What do you want? Help with your finances? Patience? A bit more energy? To forgive or be forgiven? Everything you need, God can give you. He knows your needs sometimes even better than you do, and He will never fail to provide!
The Bible boldly declares, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”(Philippians 4:19)
All your need! According to His divine riches! And in glory!

“Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.” (see Psalm 119:90-91)

Yes, all things serve Him. And when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, He makes all things work together for our good to fulfill us.
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (see 2 Corinthians 9:8)
Never be afraid of “annoying” God with the details of your life. Often, we don’t involve God in every aspect of our lives for fear of bothering Him...yet He is our loving Father who takes pleasure in meeting each of our needs.
Don’t be afraid of involving the Creator of all things...in everything!

6.) Scripture
He gave form and life to this universe: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (see Genesis 1:1)

He gave us life, movement, and being: “ ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’...” (Acts 17:28)

He gave His only Son: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Jesus gave the Holy Spirit: ““But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you...”” (Acts 1:8)

He gave His Word: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

He gives His peace: ““Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”” (John 14:27)

He gives His provision: “When the dew settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down.” (Numbers 11:9)

God loves to give!
Are you convinced that our God is a generous God?
God is the most generous of all givers! Just like He fed more than 2.5 million Jews in the desert, believe today that He’s also taking care of you and that all these things will be given to you, one day at a time.
His manna is available for you today. Be assured of this: your God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus! (see Philippians 4:19

7.) Scripture
Ephesians 3:20
To him who by means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of

Galatians 4:6‭-‬7
To show that you are his sons and daughters, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who cries out, “Father, my Father.” So then, you are no longer a slave but a son or daughter. And since that is what you are, God will give you all that he has for his heirs.

There is Always More!
Know this...there is more! As my friend Luc Dumont would say, there is something else! Do you believe it? Do you believe that God’s reserves of provision, happiness, and dreams for your life aren’t used up and gone? There’s more! There’s something else!
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (see Matthew 6:33)

Other versions translate the last part of this verse “also,” “besides,” “abundantly.” In other words...more! The cross is God’s "+" sign. Jesus agreed to lose everything so that we could gain more: more peace, more joy, more days in our lives but especially more life in our days.
Throughout His Word, the Lord keeps telling us that He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20)
“Exceedingly abundantly” comes from the Greek "perissos." This means...exceeding a need! Here’s the good news: God wants to do more than respond to your needs. He desires to fill and fulfill you...with His life, with His love, with Him. There’s an inheritance reserved for God’s children!

Believe it: there is an inheritance for you. There is more for your family, for your marriage, for your studies, for your health. It is the inheritance that your Father bequeaths to you:
“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (see Galatians 4:6-7)
What’s in your inheritance? Eternal life...but also promises for this life. When you seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, I firmly believe that God will be fully at work in your life. Everything you need, God possesses!
Open your heart to His today!
